Athlete of the month goals
Personal: My personal goals tend to coincide with my athletic goals because that is truly what drives me and who I am as a person. I was always an athlete in HS and lost that part of me as an adult until I started working out and running about 6 years ago. It wasn't until then that I realized what a better person I am when I am active. My number one focus right now is to work on cleaning up my diet...I have gotten off track for about 6 months with my nutrition and need to refocus. Hopefully writing it down for this article will force me to do it. :) I also want to continue to set a positive example for my son, Max, about the importance of health and fitness. I have enjoyed watching him grow into a young adult and take on the same focus as myself about his health.
Professional: To do my job to the best of my abilities. I was promoted to a supervisor about 9 months ago, so I want to continue to work on developing being a great leader for my team.
Athletic: On September 11, I will run my 29th half marathon (within the past 5 years). As much as I enjoy running, I am ready to take on the challenge of being better at CrossFit. I am fairly new to CrossFit and know I have a lot of work to develop the skill and form necessary to be better. I'm excited to embrace this challenge!
Why do you choose MC CrossFit?
When my former gym closed unexpectedly I felt lost. I knew the qualities I was looking for in a gym but I wasn't sure where to go. My favorite coach (Brenden) from the old gym had gotten a job at MC and suggested I give it a try. I was hesitant at first because MC is far from my home, but I really wanted to follow Brenden because I trusted him and wanted to continue my fitness journey with him as my coach. Boy am I glad I did. The first time I walked into MC I knew it was the place for me. It was so welcoming and is such a positive place. I always look forward to seeing all the athletes/coaches and I look forward to continuing to build a strong support system on this fitness journey that we are all embarking on together.
