MCXF - Crossfit Kids Update - Forging the Future of Fitness

A big THANK YOU to all of you that responded to the MXCF Kids Program Survey.

As we stated in our previous posting, rolling this out in a manner the meets our standards of quality, safety, and care is something that we take seriously - and your feedback is crucial for us to develop a program that provides value for you.

Survey Results

We were happy to see that we have enough 'organic' interest amongst our community to launch a MCXF Kids program. Specifically, the feedback you provided produced the following key takeaways:

Age Range - the most desired age range for the classes was 7-13 yo. This age range does provide a tight enough range of development that kids could be receive individualized coaching and programming while allowing options for the development stages in the age range. We can work with that!

Class Schedules - it was clear that most people felt that a twice a week program was preferred by most families. The best practice for Crossfit Kids program is twice a week program as well, which allows for enough frequency for kids to receive then benefits of repetition to learn skills, and volume for fitness progress.

Most preferred classes on Thursdays and Saturdays.......we can work with that.

Preferred class times were consistent. Most preferred 4:30 on weekdays and 9:00 AM on Saturdays.....we can also work with that.

Other points that were expressed was the value that our community places on having an accredited Crossfit Program. This is something that we view as part of our quality standard in providing a premiere Crossfit experience. Specifically, we want to make sure that we can provide an appropriate ratio of students to instructor so we closely monitor form and maintain a safe environment.

As most families with kids in the 7-13 age range can attest, they are BUSY! So we understand that the addition of another activity is something most families need to plan for.

Also, we are still navigating the terms and dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have taken a position with the our mask policy that leverages our deliberate design while allowing our members to exercise the precautions that best fit their personal situation - however, we need to consider how this position and policy would be applied to our young athletes in the Crossfit Kids program.

The Take Away

We are optimistic that a Crossfit Kids program would be an offering that our Community would find valuable and that we could execute in a manner that is consistent with our premiere experience standard. We, however, want to continue to be measured in our roll-out of a program to ensure we provide a safe and top notch experience for our most precious athletes.

We anticipate offering two classes on Thursdays at 4:30 PM and Saturdays at 9:00 AM.

Our current mask mandate was renewed in early October 7th. It was renewed for a period of 30 days and will be revisited on November 7th by KCMO City Council. The decision to extend for another 30 day period will be made based on the current community infection rates (positive cases reported, hospitalizations, etc). Although the rates have currently stabilized, we have no way of knowing if this will be renewed in early November. This is a relevant consideration in determining WHEN we roll out a Crossfit Kids program. For various reasons, we'd prefer to extend our current mask policy to our Crossfit Kids program - but feel that we would need to have the mask mandate relaxed before doing so. As such, the anticipated launch date for the Crossfit Kids program is slated for January 2022.

This time frame benefits the launch in multiple ways:

  • it allows us to realize and react to the current (positive) trends of the COVID rates which could favorably impact the City's mask mandate

  • it also allows us to prepare schedules, equipment, and programming necessary to execute a successful program.

  • it affords families on-the-go, the ability to plan accordingly to start a new activity at the start of a new year.

Pricing - our desire is to offer a value to our Community that allows the entire family to participate in Crossfit and enjoy the lifelong benefits of community and functional fitness. We want to our pricing to reflect our vision of being financially accessible for our community and providing additional savings for families with multiple kids. We forsee the rates being 40-50% the cost of the adult membership with additional savings for families with more than one child.

Stay tuned for additional update as we continue to work behind the scenes to build a program with the quality, value, and attention to detail that you've come to expect at MCXF. Please reach out with any questions or feedback!

Stronger. Together.

MCXF
